"I believe that
ScienceDays is a program that can ignite the flame of curiosity in a young child," says Amar upon deciding to found a chapter at Detroit Country Day School.  During the inaugural year, Amar contacted local venues such Detroit Country Day Lower School in Beverly Hills, Logan Elementary School in Detroit, and Eagle Elementary School in Farmington Hills.  Leading a group of mentors, Amar traveled to inner city Detroit, along with schools in the suburbs.  Amar is also extremely interested in science research.  His study, "A New Spin on Wound Healing Scaffolds: Optimization through Molecular and Physical Design" -- in which he collaborated with a classmate -- was a national finalist project in the 2005 Siemens Westinghouse competition.  Amar also placed highly at the the Detroit Science Fair and the Michigan State Science Fair.  In high school, Amar was also an editor of Blue & Gold Yearbook and a staff writer at the Day Times newspaper.
