Rajlakshmi De, Class of 2008.
Rajlakshmi found out about ScienceDays while she was getting ready to compete at the North Carolina state Science Olympiad competition at NC State.  "It immediately caught my interest," she says, "because it combines several of the defining components in my life into one amazing program. It integrates science with the opportunity to teach children, and ultimately engage them into a growing field and alter their lives. Science has always been a priority to me because of its endless possibilities and countless benefits through medicine and other fields, it is something that I would like to pursue through not only high school and college, but the rest of my life."  Outside of her school activities, Rajlakshmi works at Subway, where it requires her to interact with lots of different people as well as offer courteous customer service. She is also very active in school, through tutoring, clubs such as the American Red Cross and Science Olympiad, and sports-- mainly Varsity Track and Field.  She is also involved with her community. She volunteers at the Greensboro Urban Ministries and is a member of the Greensboro Youth Council.  She is also a singer in the Ensemble of Greensboro Youth Chorus.
