To be eligible:
Anyone member of the SDC, including oneself, can nominate a deserving SDC teacher. The SDC STEM Educator of the Year Committee will review all of the nominations and will select a finalist to be interviewed in late November 2020. Once the interview process is complete, a winner is selected.
- Innovators – Unique ways to educate students to develop a curiosity in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering or mathematics).
- Outstanding – A true passion for STEM education
- Engaging – Motivating students to see that STEM is all around us
- Beyond Academic – Inspiring students in the classroom, preparing them for education and careers outside the classroom
To be eligible:
- Teacher must be a full-time, active, certified STEM teacher (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) participating at the SDC
- Spend the majority of the school day involved in direct instruction to students
- Be skilled in implementing effective teaching strategies
- Be active with the Science Days, Science Days Challenge and/or Science Days Global
- Be able to inspire students in STEM-related topics
- Show involvement and leadership in student-related extra-curricular activities
- Be respected by students, parents, and co-workers
